CFI is the only Chicago area not for profit that provides direct financial support to
individuals and families affected by cystic fibrosis. We can’t do this without your help …
so lend us a hand. We receive donations of all sizes and are grateful for those with the
means to provide generous support. But – many small donations taken together are just as
important as a large contribution.
If you can lend us a hand – or a dollar for each finger on both your hands
– a donation of just $10 - CFI can continue to do what it does best in our local community.
When you give to CFI, your donation will not be bundled into the budget of a large national
organization in which an individual may have little voice but directly impact those affected
by CF with medication needs that would otherwise go unfilled, counseling from a mentor who has
been there before, and educational efforts that disseminate information vital to improving
quality of life. We have even been able to offer housing support for a family that otherwise
would have been homeless. |

"The Cystic Fibrosis Institute (CFI) was founded on the fundamental principle that
every person with
cystic
fibrosis (CF) deserves the opportunity to realize his
or her full potential, to
lead as normal a life as
possible and, despite the
many obstacles they and
their families face, share
in the joys of life itself."

CFI also hosts special events to get the word out about all that we do for individuals
and families affected by cystic fibrosis and to raise the financial resources to accomplish
this. CFI recently hosted “Of Wine & Roses,” a wine tasting experience fundraiser on
Sunday September 26, 2010 at Maestro Seafood & Grill in Northbrook. Over 100 attendees
were able to sample an interesting collection of wines from around the world and also feast
on Grande Hors D’oeuvres.

The program featured a silent auction on a variety of items including travel, original art,
and sports memorabilia. There was also a raffle for a 1 week stay in a beautiful 3 bedroom
beachfront suite in Aruba. Tickets for the Oprah Winfrey Show were the prize in another raffle.
“Of Wine & Roses" raised over $21,000. These funds will be used to aid individuals and families
affected by cystic fibrosis throughout the Greater Chicagoland area.

Community support for CFI has been instrumental in helping us accomplish our mission. On November 21, 2010
over 1500 runners participated in the Lincolnwood Turkey Trot. To assist the Cystic Fibrosis Institute in
achieving its ever expanding goals, the event's sponsor, the Lincolnwood Parks and Recreation Department selected
CFI to receive a portion of the proceeds. On June 14, 2011 Dr. Boas graciously accepted a donation of $1000.

Other athletes have also supported CFI's mission.
On October 1, 2011 the Glenbrook South High School soccer team and coach Paul Agombar held their second annual “Kick CF” fundraiser. The team and its supporters chose CFI as their cause to make a difference in their own local community. The event featured raffles, half time performances, and a live auction. The first “Kick CF” fundraiser in 2010 raised over $6000 to support programs and research at CFI. Stay tuned for this year’s totals which may well surpass last year’s mark.
